It did get further this time but got some desktop hassle no doubt due to the Hard restarts, resolved that and avast was finally up and running. At this point I was considering a boot into safe mode and uninstall, but I gave it one more shot. This happened again after the hard restart. Hard restart - after reboot system started loading but never got to the avast tray icon being present and the system locked, hard restart again. Even the restart key (soft restart, closes open programs before restart) on the keyboard failed to work. Checking or rather trying to check Task Manager nothing on the toolbar worked everything appeared to be frozen, no right click functionality or keystroke commands. I left this for a while and still no reboot request. XP Pro SP3 - Removed the last beta 2244, rebooted and installed 2245 install appeared to complete (tray icon was present), but there was no reboot request.
